HP-827 Advanced Medical Spanish

Prerequisites: ability to converse in Spanish. Pass/Fail and Audit available.  This course, conducted completely in Spanish, focuses the learner who is already conversant in Spanish to explore the language needed to conduct health care visits and considers the interaction with persons of Spanish languages communities with different cultural and linguistic idiosyncrasies.  The course is designed to provide students with the opportunities and guidance to achieve an advanced level of competence in the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The course follows a communicative, information-based task approach, which comes from the idea that languages are best learned when real world information becomes the focus of student's activities. Therefore, during the semester, students will exchange real-life information about themselves with classmates. This course requires daily work.
