NP 774 Adult Gero Acute Care Pract I

Prerequisites: NS760, co-requisite NP 853. This is the first of three acute care clinical courses that prepares the student for advanced practice as Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioners. Consistent with the theory course, this course will apply the theories of diagnosis and treatment of select acute care conditions. In collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other health care professionals, students will provide case management to a select group of acutely ill patients in a precepted clinical setting. Emphasis will be placed on the development of culturally sensitive strategies in the care of acutely ill patients.
